Wipebook Flipchart

The Wipebook Flipchart attempts to be a reusable version of paper flipcharts-- in some ways, it meets this. In others, normal paper flip charts are better.

For benefits, they work well! They are reusable, erase easily, and can be cleaned well. Students were able to take what they wrote on the Wipebook and present it to the class, showing that they can do mostly what you want with them.

The drawbacks are that they are very flimsy and fold/crinkle a bit easier than I'd like for them to. Furthermore, they use pre-punched holes to hang them around the classroom-- without a sticky side, it becomes hard to utilize them as you would normal paper flipcharts. You can't stick them anywhere, therefore students either have to write on them at a table or on the ground, or the teacher has to have hooks up in the classroom which are permanent in order to use these on the wall (which, at that point, just install large regular whiteboards!). Finally, they are kept together as a stack with two pins that go into a button at the end-- once the button is removed, it is easy to prick yourself with the pins.

Overall, I don't see much benefit to this over regular paper ones other than the price. If you opt to use these, you'll just have to adjust the strategies for how they are used.

Wipebook Flipchart

It was a great session and allowed teachers to see first hand how the wipebooks can be used in all curricular areas. The session opened up for discussion and ideas on how the wipebooks could be used. There were some aha moments which was really great to see.
